Tyson gave his farewell talk on Sunday, June 12, 2016. He had returned the night before from being a "Strippling Warrior" at scout camp. His time to prepare was limited but he had started his thoughts before camp and he did a wonderful job! He spoke with great power and conviction. It was wonderful to have so many friends and family there to support him and share this day with us.
Tyson spoke on the blessings of keeping our covenants. He beautifully and simply explained covenants and focused particularly on our baptismal covenant. He then shared examples of people who have kept covenants: the anti-nephi-lehites, Moroni, Joseph Smith and his dad. He got a little emotional when he spoke about his dad which made me get emotional! Uncle Paul kept saying "powerful...there's a lot of power there" and that is how I felt as Tyson shared his thoughts. He has a powerful testimony and you could feel it's strength. Brittany said he sounded like a missionary which made her "bawl like a baby".
Scott had the same topic but focused on the sacrament prayers. He counseled the youth to remember three songs during the sacrament: I'm trying to be like Jesus, Tell Me the Stories of Jesus, and I Feel My Savior's Love. He talked with all of us about taking the sacrament personally and concluded with the hymn I Stand All Amazed. He also mentioned at the beginning that as Tyson spoke he thought of Heavenly Father's introduction of Christ as "This is my Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased". He said he was grateful to be able to say the same.
